Dohur

Dohur is a slow-living brand inspired by storytelling and textile traditions. Based in London, Dohur conceives, sources and produces artisanal objects, crafted by hand in small batches. They are made in a conscious. unhurried way that imbues quality and connects cultures.

Dohur’s products are culturally, socially and environmentally sustainable. We support traditional artisans, work with durable natural materials and encourage our customers to buy fewer things, better chosen.

Hva er grunnen til at du startet med akkurat dette? I was raised in India, lived in Norway and am now based in London. Along the way I have learned that many of the most meaningful aspects of those cultures – craft, tradition, giving – are in danger of being lost because we simply don’t take the time to understand or appreciate them. With Dohur I wanted to reconnect people with the slow process of making, and to honour the makers. Derived from the Hindi word ‘dohra’, which means double, a dohur is a light Indian quilt. To me it perfectly signifies our twofold approach: to consciously create useful and beautiful things, and to support traditional craft skills.

Hva er det beste med å være sin egen sjef? I can often choose how I spend my day.

En funfact om produktet? Dorte, our Julekalender was designed by my husband's aunt Dorte in Denmark in the 1970s and we still use the original piece.

Har du noen favorittsteder i Oslo? Whenever I am in Oslo, I love going to Songsvann. It's such an unspoilt place and so close to the centre. I love visiting some of the fashion stores but do not have a particular favourite.
